Mermaid Beach sits on the Gold Coast between Broadbeach and Nobby Beach, a strip of beach and the Gold Coast Highway with restaurants and bars along it. Here is how we would spend an evening in Mermaid Beach: the beach, margaritas, dinner at Bonita Bonita on the Gold Coast Highway, then Bon Bon Bar next door.
One honest note before you start: the days matter. Margarita hour runs Thursday to Saturday, and Bon Bon Bar opens Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. Friday and Saturday get you both.

On the sand at Mermaid Beach
Mermaid Beach's sand is a short walk east of the Gold Coast Highway, with a long, open beach that is usually quieter than the busier stretches at Broadbeach and Surfers Paradise. Swim between the flags when the beach is patrolled.

Margarita hour at Bonita Bonita
Thursday to Saturday, 4pm to 6pm, classic, coconut and mezcal margaritas are $16 and chile con queso is $10, dine in. On other days, the full list of six margaritas is shaken to order from $21.

Dinner by candlelight
Stay for dinner at Bonita Bonita: tacos, share plates or the $49 seven-course banquet, with vegan and gluten free options through the menu. The kitchen closes at 9pm Monday to Wednesday and 9:30pm Thursday to Sunday. Book ahead for Friday and Saturday nights.

Tequila at Bon Bon Bar
On Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 5pm, walk next door to Bon Bon Bar, our candlelit tequila and mezcal lounge, for a nightcap from the agave shelf. About Bon Bon Bar.
Which night to choose
- Tuesday: Taco Tuesday from 5pm, $6 classic tacos and $20 sangria jugs, and Bon Bon Bar is open.
- Wednesday: Nacho Wednesday from 5pm, $16 nachos.
- Thursday: margarita hour from 4pm to 6pm.
- Friday and Saturday: margarita hour, dinner, then Bon Bon Bar. Book ahead.
- Sunday and Monday: lunch from 12pm to 4pm and dinner from 5pm, with no weekly deal.
Bringing a group?
